What versions of Flight Simulator are compatable with 3wirex? Does it work with SP1/2?
3wirex only works with Flight Simulator X service pack 1 (SP1) or greater. FSX service packs can be downloaded from FSInsider.
When FSX starts I see a black DOS window - what is it?
This windows is the 3wirex console and is a sign that 3wirex is running. You need to leave this window running (it can be minimised) for 3wirex to work correctly. It will automatically close when FSX is closed.
Can I use other aircraft and carriers with 3wirex?
Yes you can. User submitted definitions for other models can be found in the library page. Information on how to create your own zones and aircraft definitions is available in the SDK.
When FSX starts I get an error "Failed to initialize 3wirex audio Extension" and I can't hear any effects or voice commands.
This is most likely caused by not having a recent version of DirectX 9 installed. Microsoft issues updates to DirectX9 every few months and 3wirex requires at least the April 2007 release for the sound to function correctly. It is recommended that you update to the latest version of DirectX.
I keep seeing the "Aircraft not defined" message, what is it?
This message is simply telling you that the current aircraft that you are flying is not defined for use with 3wirex. This gives you a clear indication of which aircraft will be able to land on the carriers and be arrested using 3wirex
Do I need FSUIPC?
No, FSUIPC is not required for 3wirex to function, it uses the new SimConnect interface.
