2. Startup errors

At this stage you should have 3wirex correctly configured to launch when FSX is started. The next step is to fix any problems that could occur when 3wirex statrts.

"Failed to initialize 3wirex audio extension"

One of the most common errors is a popup window that states that the 3wirex audio extension has failed to initialise. The error usually occurs because the installed version of DirectX is too old and needs to be updated. DirectX is currently split into DirectX 9 for Windows XP and DirectX 10 for Vista. While you will have one of these installed DirectX is updated approximately every 2 months and so there are a number of different versions of each. 3wirex requires the April 2007 update or later to be installed. You can get the updates from the Microsoft website.
